South PTI (Public Transport Interchange) area is one of the first public infrastructure put into use in TODTOWN (Transit-Oriented Development Complex) Shanghai. It is a public new media art space with regular daily contents and short-term art exhibitions. We invite artists and technology geeks to bring art and culture for local people to spend their time in a new and different way during transfer.

Our company won the bid of a complete art curation project for TODTOWN over the other competitors with the contribution of the PTI project as the entry test and is delivered to client’s satisfaction.

TODTOWN Shanghai is a traffic hub consists of railroads, subways and ground transportations, and has a development area of 0.6215km² including flats, offices, hotel area, apartments, a retail center, etc., in which the South PTI area is around 0.002km² and consists of 16 pillars, one hoarding board and one house viewing passage.
We took what exists from unfinished PTI construction site, adding in our ideas and thoughts, to finally achieve this brand new concept and space of pubic art with deliverables neither our client nor us could’ve thought about having at the first place, which includes:

Curatorial Logic: southwest core of people, time,
art and culture and technology.
Art Solution: boundless museum space + new media art, utilizing space characteristics.
Art Installation:
LED as one of the new art medias is able to hold renewable art contents to achieve the request of art touring within a reasonable budget.
Reflective materials will maximize the visual effect of the media contents.
Color-changing mood pillars will integrate the space into one unified work of art.
